Dedicated Server means you get your own physical server which is not shared with anyone else.
You can use your own hardware, Operating System, your own software etc. due to which the cost of dedicated hosting is much higher than shared or VPS or Cloud Hosting.
The benefit of using dedicated server is that you have your full control over it as it is not shared with anyone else. You don’t have to worry about someone else activities on the server like slowing down the server or using more disk space.

So whenever you are looking for a Dedicated server then try to see that it has 2 sets of disks, so if one disk has any problem then other disks can take over it and can be used for the uninterrupted service.
Another problem with a Dedicated server may come at the time of upgrading it. For ex. if the number of visitors to your site increases tremendously and now if you need more speed or more space then you will opt for upgrading your server. In this scenario, a problem can occur.
Now as you are trying to upgrade your existing dedicated server means if you want to add a new RAM or CPU or speed or maybe you are switching over to brand-new dedicated server then it can be problematic because you are switching over to another machine which is exactly like your existing server with the same configuration , but still it can cause problem as it is a new or different machine.

It is generally used when you are required to use a lot of CPU’s and RAM resources which requires a lot of processes. So you can create virtual servers for these processes. You are required to look after these processes and RAM as they require a lot of bandwidth.
In VPS if any piece of hardware fails then other hardware parts can be used so there is no downtime and it is a huge accomplishment.
VPS servers can be upgraded easily which is not possible with dedicated servers.
If you want to move your server to another then also it can be done easily. Thus VPS servers give more flexibility or more speed to your service.
VPS hosting takes care of backups, their storage, hardware related problems and upgrading of the server. Thus they can save your time which you can utilize for looking after your business and not on maintaining your server.
