CSS stands for Cascading Style Sheets and it is a designing element of a web application we see on the internet today. It allows us kind of fancy up the web pages by adding different  styles to the web pages like color the background , make tables, boxes and rounding the corners of the those tables or boxes or columns or may just making a text look in a certain way like with color or different font styles and font sizes.

Now, like with HTML and HTML, 5 CSS also has different versions or CSS is also called as levels. The most current and widely used CSS level is CSS 3. Some of the modules in CSS 3 are being adopted by some of the big browsers, the problem is that not all the browsers, recognize all the goodies that CSS 3 provides.

Big difference between CSS 2.1 and new CSS 3 is that the newer CSS levels are broken into different modules, instead of just one huge batch of code. That all browsers need to interpret. With the new CSS levels broken into modules, the browsers can just work on interpreting a single module at all the time and make for a quicker implementation of those goodies within that particular modules. The problem is that the browsers are not looking very quick to implement all the modules in the level 3.

But they are getting there. The level 4 or CSS 4 will not even be getting touched on the modules CSS 3 or standardized with the major browser. Now the couple of examples of the benefits of CSS 3 over CSS 2 is replacement of the some of the outdated elements like how you can add rounded corners to the boxes and some of the new styling options like adding a drop shadow effect, both these examples used to require the use of image or images to get that effect.

CSS is the way to go when wanting to add some of the cool effects to design elements to your site without loading it up with a ton of lines of HTML or code to accomplish  the same presentation effect that 3-4 lines of CSS code would do and do better plus most options of the code have been replicated in HTML 4 and in HTML 5 many browsers would not even support them.

• CSS stands for cascading style sheets and the thing to remember is that it is about presentation. CSS controls the presentation of HTML. CSS grabs all of the website’s content and it styles it to however you feel it fit as per your requirement.
• Another thing to remember about CSS is that it has constantly changing standards, currently, CSS 3 is being used widely. So it is the current standard. It is rebranched as the whole package along with an HTML 5 as a new web standard.
• There is varying support when it comes from one browser to the next. So a website without CSS will really look ridiculous and nobody wants to visit it. So that is the massive effect of CSS has on a website. So it is a very important branch of web development. There is no substitution for great CSS skills.
• Thus this is one skill that you want to master because you got different devices like mobile screens, tablet screens, desktop screens etc. This is a kind of highlighting the importance of CSS in responsive design. You want your website to look good on all the devices so this is an area you want to become master in.
